Shri Prakash
Distinguished Fellow of Transport & Urban Governance at TERI
Mr. Shri Prakash has joined The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in July 2011 as Distinguished Fellow, after 37 years of experience in Indian Railways where he held numerous key positions in different Zonal Railways and the Railway Board. He retired as a Member (Traffic), Indian Railway Board and Secretary to government of India in December 2009 and was thereafter appointed as Chairman, Standing High Powered Committee on Infrastructure Planning, Business Development and Project Monitoring on Indian Railways.
For over 9 years, he is now guiding research in sustainable transport policies in the Centre for Research in Sustainable Mobility in TERI. His main research areas cover urban transport, electric mobility particularly in freight and passenger transport, modal shift from road to rail in India, transport modelling and forecasting.
Concurrently, he is Professor in Sustainable Mobility at TERI School of Advanced Studies since 2014 and Director of Public Policy and Sustainability Programme.
Mr Prakash has rich experience in working across departments; his specializations include operations, planning, information technology, and safety. He is a Postgraduate in Mathematics and has an additional degree of M.B.A.
