Developing/Enhancing policy framework to promote low carbon development and GHG emissions reduction in the transport sector
With improved monitoring, reporting, and verification systems and ambitious policy frameworks for low-carbon transport, Vietnam can significantly decrease transport emissions.
Recent scenario analysis by the Ministry of Transport for Vietnam’s 2020 NDC shows that fuel economy and uptake of e-mobility are mitigation actions with high emissions savings potential. NDC-TIA will support the Ministry of Transport in developing and implementing their monitoring, reporting and verification systems on climate change mitigation in the transport sector. The project will support local and national authorities in developing roadmaps for supporting electric vehicle deployment and facilitate fuel economy regulation.

Key Outputs
Output 1
Develop an ambitious transport contribution to Vietnam’s 2050 vision and the 2025 NDC, based on enhanced monitoring, reporting and verification of transport emissions and mitigation actions.
Output 2
Improve the policy framework (including financial mechanisms) for electric mobility and fuel economy in Vietnam.
