Regional and Global work

Exchanging knowledge on the electrification of freight transport and gender-inclusiveness in freight and logistics in Asia

On regional level, the NDC-TIA Phase 2 aims to maximize impact by sharing lessons learnt, increasing discourse on the renewable energy requirements of transport among energy stakeholders, and promoting gender-responsive transport development. On the global level, the project engages in relevant UN processes.

Our work covers both analytical and social dimensions of the transition. It comprehensively analyses freight decarbonization, examining freight in NDCs and long-term strategies, e-truck uptake, and charging infrastructure deployment. Additionally, it evaluates the role of women in freight and logistics to ensure an inclusive transition. Findings and toolkits will be actively disseminated through knowledge publications, cross-sectoral dialogue series, regional events, and joint communication platforms..

Key Outputs

Knowledge on progress, gaps, and lessons learnt regarding electrification of freight transport in Asia and the role of women in freight and logistics is exchanged with regional and international stakeholders, supporting a gender-responsive approach in the transport sector

Project Progress

In Phase 2, the Regional component of the NDC-TIA will focus on accelerating freight transport decarbonisation and electrification in Asia while advancing gender-responsive approaches in the transport sector.

The project will directly support decision makers, regional institutions, and sector stakeholders through the following work:

  • Knowledge Products: Delivering analyses on freight in NDCs/LTS, non-state initiatives, e-HDV tracking, charging infrastructure, andfleet financing to inform regional policymakers and funders.

  • Cross-sector Dialogue: Facilitating technical exchanges on vehicle-to-grid (V2G) integration, innovative business models, and policy mechanisms, alongside developing a Transport and Renewable Energy Toolkit.

  • Gender Responsive Development: Enhancing gender equity in freight and logistics through targeted topic briefs, role-model campaigns, and actionable company self-commitments.

In the Regional component, partners will work together to maximise its impact through multi-channel communication strategies, high-level regional events, and internal knowledge-exchange platforms for consortium partners.
