Launch of Digital Library on Green Mobility (DLGM)

Presently, the transport sector contributes to nearly one-fourth of the global carbon dioxide emissions and it would be over one-third in the absence of mitigation measures. In India, nearly 15% of the carbon dioxide emissions is contributed by the transport sector which is heavily dependent on fossil fuels. The key to reduce air pollution caused by internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles is to adopt green mobility. One of the most popular alternatives are electric vehicles (EVs) as E-mobility is a deep confluence between the transport and power sector. India has set an ambitious target of reaching 175 GW renewable energy by 2022 and it is indeed progressing in the right direction to increase the share of RE power in the total energy mix.

To share global knowledge on green mobility, the Digital Library on Green Mobility (DLGM) was virtually launched on 2 November 2020 in the presence of dignitaries: Mr M. Vijay Kumar, Joint Adviser, Transport, NITI Aayog, Dr Winfried Damm, Head of Indo-German Energy Programme, GIZ, Dr. Ajay Mathur, DG, TERI and Mr Amit Kumar, Senior Director, TERI. Participants agreed on the importance of DLGM as a timely intervention for the transition in the transport sector, plagued by the burden of oil imports and GHG emissions and their adverse effects on the economy and the health of the urban population.
