UNFCCC COP26


The COP26 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Changes. There are multiple direct and side events of COP26 with NDC-TIA participation, see them in details below by chronological order.

  • Climate Targets and Impacts in the Transport Sector in the European Union and China (GIZ, EUCCC, and NCSC)

    Jointly organized by GIZ, EUCCC, and NCSC, this workshop will facilitate international experience sharing on climate strategies, targets and policy making in the transport sector and provide a platform for relevant stakeholders to discuss the way towards achieving the climate targets in the transport sector, with a focus on four key areas: energy, road freight, aviation and shipping.

  • The transition to a decarbonization path for the transport sector is essential to achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement for 2050.

    Jointly organized by ITF and GIZ, the showcase at the COP 26 that the transformation for decarbonizing transport is needed and possible, GIZ co-organizes a hybrid event in the German Pavilion at the COP 26 in Glasgow. 

    After an input on demonstrating tangible scenarios and interventions in the transport sector for reaching the 1.5 degrees Celsius goal, country representatives of Colombia, India and Uganda as well as the German Ministries BMU and BMZ will discuss approaches to decarbonise the transport sector and exchange on possibilities and challenges by country representatives for raising ambition through enhanced NDCs in transport.
