On September 21st, 2021, the NDC-TIA Viet Nam component organized a Project update meeting with the project owner: Department of Environment (DOE), Ministry of Transport (MOT). DOE acknowledged that this was the very first meeting with adequate representatives from DOE, GIZ, WRI, and ICCT to review the essential project progress, to access the difficulties during implementation, and to discuss the coordination mechanism among stakeholders.

The meeting was a great opportunity for all stakeholders to review the completed work and what needs to be done in the upcoming months.

During the meeting, WRI presented their work implementation of several topics including: “International experiences on national and subnational e-mobility roadmaps”, as well as “Energy demand analysis” and “Cost-benefit analysis” which both focus on Ho Chi Minh city and its electric vehicle (EV) scenarios. Besides, ICCT focused on the topic of fuel economy (FE) standard and its global best practices.

After providing the progress updates, GIZ proposed a new coordination mechanism which would help to maximise the efficiency of the current workflow as well as the contribution and feedback of each stakeholder. Overall, the proposal reached a general agreement of stakeholders.
